Truly Minimal Linux Distribution for Containers

Statesman

Statesman is a minimal Linux distribution, running from memory, that has just enough functionality to run OCI-compatible containers.

Rationale

Many "minimal" Linux distributions designed to run containers still carry a fully fledged operating system that requires careful monitoring, patch management etc.

If we are are running containers in the cloud, we simply need to boot, acquire network addresses and discover what containers we should run. Upgrading is as simple as rebooting.

Statesman runs entirely from initramfs, with a single Go init binary contained within.
