pwentropy is a CLI tool to calculate a passwords entropy

Overview

pwentropy returns a floating point value that indicates the password entropy

The pool is split up like follows:

  • Lowercase
  • Uppercase
  • Numbers
  • Common symbols
  • Uncommon symbols

Code is modularized so that the library can be used in other projects

License: GPLv3

Example usage

Usage

  • pwentropy -p password1

Installation/building

Only tested on x86/64 Linux. Binaries not provided but should work on any system as there is nothing OS specific in the code.

Clone the project and run: go build or go run main.go
